While it arguably never felt longer, it was filled with unforgettable characters, storylines, triumphs, blunders, and more.

To put a bow on the year before the big game that extends beyond just the realm of football, in honor of us having one week of anticipation of Super Bowl 59 with awards and honors and a Pro Bowl, we likely won’t watch, here are 59 things to put in our 2024-2025 NFL year time capsule.

  • The “Golden Era” of Quarterbacks this year
  • Going for it on 4th down is normal again, not just something you do in Madden
  • Washington and the DMV are finally having fun watching football this year, cleansed of Dan Snyder
  • Derrick Henry unlocking Lamar Jackson as thunder and lightning
  • Josh Allen performed as a superhuman
  • The unlikely bromance of Justin Herbert and Jim Harbaugh
  • Jameis Winston suddenly becoming a character in Cleveland after they were cleansed of Deshaun Watson
  • Sean Payton staking his reputation on Bo Nix and being successful
  • Riley Moss and Patrick Surtain, being the White Men Can’t Jump, unstoppable secondary
  • Joe Burrow is as cool as ever and back to healthy Joe Burrow, even in a down year for the Bengals
  • Will Levis’ “disaster play” memes
  • Brock Bowers is the next unstoppable tight end
  • Listening to Keon Coleman and Xavier Legette’s press conferences
  • Lamar vs Josh Allen for MVP was the most recent greatest barbershop debate in years
  • Collectively asking ourselves every Sunday, “How do the Chiefs continue to do this?” in anger
  • Lions trick plays
  • How much fun Baker Mayfield was having in Tampa Bay (with yet another offensive coordinator)
  • The SAM DARNASSAINCE in Minnesota
  • Andrew Van Ginkel looks exactly like a Viking and is the lynchpin of that defense

  • Mike McDaniel looks like the most Miami person of all time as the head coach of the Dolphins
  • The Bears fans alleviated themselves by finally firing their head coach
  • The “Hail Maryland” summarizing the Chicago season
  • The NFC West feeling as chaotic a division as the Big 12
  • The Rams somehow recovered from losing Aaron Donald with Braden Fiske and Jared Verse, a man who actively booed Philly fans in their face while destroying them in the postseason
  • Matt Lafleur won without Jordan Love by just basically running the Navy offense with Malik Willis
  • The Patriots now have to be the “plucky underdog” with Drake Maye after their dynasty
  • The downfall of Aaron Rodgers was celebrated by some (many)
  • Kirk Cousins having a moment where he was a beloved Atlanta athlete wearing chains (before getting benched)
  • Anthony Richardson’s relatable moment of taking himself out because he was “tired”
  • The other relatable moment was when Saints Interim Head Coach Darren Rizzi clogged a toilet before his first game
  • Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers reuniting in maybe the most underwhelming fashion
  • Sending an unwatchable Giants-Panthers game to Germany
  • The NFL declaring war on the NBA’s Christmas Day
  • Having football on every single day but Wednesday this year, thus making it a full-time job
  • Doug Pederson was pre-fired, but the team had multiple games in London, so the Jaguars did it at the end of the year instead
  • The debate over whether or not CJ Stroud could use “little bro” to other quarterbacks after only playing one year
  • Tom Brady going from being the best quarterback of all-time to sounding like an AI-generated broadcaster reading Magic Johnson-esque Tweets
  • Jerry Jones vs. the sunset that blinds his own players at AT&T Stadium
  • Snow game football is BACK
  • We had two Harbaugh’s playing each other again
  • Trey Hendrickson being LeBron on the 2007 Cleveland Cavaliers on the struggling Bengals defense
  • We have one of the best rookie quarterback classes in years and still haven’t seen JJ McCarthy and only have seen Michael Penix Jr. in five
  • The New Orleans Saints being the annual “score a million points to start the season and look like a powerhouse to eventually flame out into irrelevance” team
  • The guardian cap makes several players look like they ate a Super Mario mushroom
  • Roger Goodell teasing the possibility of an 18-game regular season as another undefeated “The NFL remains king” pat on the back remains king
