SURVEY: Phillie Phanatic Is MLB’s Most Loved Mascot

A new survey from Bovada Sportsbook has named the most loved MLB mascots, as well as the most irritating.
- Phillie Phanatic is the most loved mascot in the MLB, with 35% of fans agreeing it provides entertainment value, rising to 79% amongst Philadelphia Phillies fans themselves
- Phillie Phanatic is also the most loved mascot amongst its own team in the league, followed by Fredbird and T.C. Bear
- Mr. and Mrs. Met are dubbed the most ‘irritating’ mascots in the league
A survey of 3,000 MLB fans from Bovada Sportsbook has revealed the league’s most loved mascots, with Phillie Phanatic taking the crown.
The study analyzed 28 MLB mascots based on fan perceptions of their entertainment value, humor, and engagement, and also revealed which mascots are the most beloved by their own teams.
Phillie Phanatic Is the Most Loved MLB Mascot in 2026, With the Highest Entertainment Value Score

Phillie Phanatic topped the rankings with a perfect score of 10, driven by high ratings across all three categories, including a league-high 35.2% entertaining score and 30.9% humor rating. The Philadelphia Phillies mascot was also rated the most engaging, with 18% of MLB fans agreeing that the lovable furry green creature engages fans well.
The Oriole Bird ranked second overall with a score of 6.55/10, followed closely by Pirate Parrot in third (6.25). Wally the Green Monster (5.36) and Mr. Met & Mrs. Met (5) rounded out the top five.
At the other end of the table, Raymond (1.16), Swinging Friar (1.22), and Gapper (1.25) ranked among the lowest-scoring mascots in the league when it comes to how entertaining, humorous, and engaging they are.

Phillie Phanatic is the Most Loved Mascot Amongst Its Own Fanbase, Followed by Fredbird and T.C. Bear
The study also revealed which mascots are most strongly supported by their own fanbases compared to baseball fans overall, highlighting the characters with the biggest “home-field advantage.”
Phillie Phanatic ranks as the mascot most loved by its own team, with Philadelphia Phillies fans rating the mascot dramatically higher for entertainment value than MLB fans as a whole.
Across all baseball fans surveyed, the Phanatic received an average entertaining, humorous, and engaging score of 28.13%, but among Phillies fans specifically, that figure jumped to 68.27%, a massive 40.13% increase.

Fredbird of the St. Louis Cardinals followed closely behind, earning a 40.07-point boost among Cardinals fans compared to the general MLB audience, while T.C. Bear of the Minnesota Twins ranked third with a 36.70-point increase.
Mr. And Mrs. Met Dubbed the Most ‘Irritating’ Mascots in the MLB
The survey also revealed which fans consider to be the most ‘irritating’ mascots. Mr. Met & Mrs. Met, the duo representing the New York Mets, came in first place with 5.7% of fans rating them as irritating.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, this rose to 13% of Philadelphia Phillies fans – the Mets’ biggest rivals.
Other mascots attracting relatively higher annoyance scores include Screech (4.8%), the bald eagle mascot representing the Washington Nationals, and Rangers Captain (3.3%), the mascot for the Texas Rangers.
