It’s time for the “World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party” in Jacksonville.

That’s the site where Florida and Georgia will meet in a pivotal SEC East battle that will likely decide the division winner. More importantly, the loser is likely eliminated from playoff contention with two losses.

In the American West, SMU and Memphis will fight for control of the division. SMU is trying to keep its cinderella hopes of crashing the college football playoff alive, but in order to do that, they must go undefeated.

No. 15 SMU at No. 24 Memphis

If not for a terrible start at Temple by the Tigers, this would be a matchup of the unbeaten. The winner of this game is going to have to score a lot of points. Both offenses are averaging at least 39 points per game, and neither plays very well on defense. Texas transfer quarterback Shane Buechele will have to make sure his Mustangs aren’t settling for field goals.

Buechele is who makes this team go, and keeps their offense efficient. If he can lead scoring drives early, their defense should be able to do just enough to hang on for the win.

Prediction: SMU 33, Memphis 30

No. 8 Georgia vs. No. 6 Florida at TIAA Bank Field

Don’t expect a ton of offense in this showdown of top SEC defenses. This game will be slow, and possibly full of turnovers. The key to victory will be in the trenches, as Georgia has one of the best offensive lines in the FBS, however, Florida’s defensive front is one of the best in the league. Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm has never lost to Florida. His experience should help him understand that this game may be about field position more than anything else.

If Georgia can limit big plays and win the trenches, they should be able to squeeze out a victory in Jacksonville.

Prediction: Georgia 17, Florida 14
