Dallas Sports Nation – January Spotlight – Social Admin: Lane Johnson

Hi! My name is Lane Johnson and I contribute to Stars Nation Twitter.
*This is Lane Johnson’s 1st WegENT Spotlight Selection

Lane Johnson 1Hey everyone, my name is Lane Johnson and I am a Twitter admin for Stars Nation Dallas. I guess you could say that my fandom for sports, in general, has been around ever since I’ve been a kid. I was always around sports but could never play competitive sports due to a rare heart condition called Shone’s complex. I would always try to find any way possible to be around sports and I’ve done everything from being a student athletic trainer to now working in sports radio which I’ve done since 2017, but my love and passion for hockey has always been a part of me.

I  grew up watching minor league hockey mostly the Monroe Moccasins and Shreveport Mudbugs then of the WPHL. I would enjoy going to the games and getting autographs and as I got to college I was able to see the Louisiana Icegators play. I guess you could say that my fandom for hockey just grew over the years and I started watching the NHL probably in middle school. I thought it was such a cool sport and my favorite part was the fighting. I would always watch whatever game was on tv but the team I enjoyed watching the most was the Dallas Stars. I always dreamed of going to an NHL game and the first game I was able to attend was in 2014 or 2015 when the Stars played the Nashville Predators and it was an incredible experience. I’ve been to one other Stars game but living in South Louisiana makes it a little difficult to go to games even though I hope to attend many more games.

Getting started with Wegryn: I had been following the Stars Nation Dallas Twitter Lane Johnson 2page for a while and other than the official Dallas Stars page it was the only Stars related page that I followed. I liked the uniqueness of it and that they made it look fun. In June of 2019, I saw a tweet that said “if you love sports, love hockey and mostly the Dallas Stars come to join our team” and I was lucky enough to be selected as a Twitter Admin.

I have a lot of aspirations in life. I want to be the best version of myself that I can be every day. I have always wanted to do a sports bucket list of attending at least one game in every major sport and even try to go to a special event like a playoff game. I want to one day hopefully run the social media accounts for a professional team and I want to prove to myself that anything is possible and to not give up on my dreams.

Dallas Sports Nation January Spotlight – Section Manager: Joe Carrillo

Hi everyone! My name is Joe Carrillo and I am the Section Manager for Rangers Nation.
*This is Joe Carrillo’s 1st WegENT Spotlight Selection

IMG_20200210_175117.jpgWhen I was asked to write about myself for this month’s spotlight for Dallas Sports Nation, I was surprised. I’ve been used to writing about players, coaches, the Texas Rangers or Dallas Cowboys. I grew up in the DFW my entire life, playing baseball, football, whatever I could do to get around friends and outside.

Baseball is in my blood. As corny as that sounds, it really runs in the family. Growing up, my parents made it a point to be involved in everything I did, whether it was baseball, school, or just anything me and my brother did. In Dallas, the Dallas Cowboys reign supreme in the sports pyramid, followed by the Rangers, Mavs, and Stars. But with the Texas Rangers is where my interest grew. Going to countless games sitting in the bleachers in the outfield was how I fell in love with the game, hanging out with my family watching the Rangers.

I’ve been with Wegryn Enterprises for about a year and a half, blogging about the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. I randomly found them on Twitter one day while they were looking for bloggers and social media admins. My buddy, Rudy, and I run the Dallas Power Hour podcast, so we figured this could help us get our feet even deeper into the sports media world. Little did we know what was waiting for us. Rudy is a blogger and social media admin for Cowboys Nation, and as for myself, I’m the Section Manager for Rangers Nation, blogging and running the social media accounts across Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

I’ve always had a knack for writing, so when I began, I loved it. Writing about the FB_IMG_1581378742017.jpghome team Texas Rangers was something me and my dad only joked about when I was younger. Today, I come in as a credentialed media member for Dallas Sports Nation, which is more than what I thought could happen when I jumped on board with Wegryn. I’m able to meet other writers, professional players, coaches and do so much more here.FB_IMG_1581378739281

In the long run, this could be part of my legacy, something to remember me by. I have a family, a wife, 2 kids, and a dog I didn’t originally want (kidding) and I want them to be proud of what I do. This isn’t a full-time gig, but eventually, it would be amazing to make it one. It takes people years to be in the position we’re in, and it’s up to me to take it and run with it. I appreciate what Wegryn has done, and I’m looking forward to everything this has in store for me.
