Philadelphia Sports Nation January Spotlight – Social Admin: Dakota Duvall

Hi! My name is Dakota Duvall and I contribute to Eagles Nation Twitter.

  • Where does your fandom stem from?

My fandom for the Eagles started at birth! My dad was raised in Norwood, PA for most of his childhood and grew up a huge Eagles fan. He would always tell me about spinning on the merry-go-round at the park and getting sick and going home and watching Super Bowl 15 against the Raiders. Being from Illinois I try to see the Eagles play at the closest game to me. St. Louis, Cincinnati and Minnesota have been my trips so far. I was able to make it to the Wild Card Game this year against the Seahawks for my first trip to Philadelphia and absolutely loved it! I never miss watching games on tv. In the last 5 years, I had to miss 2 games and we lost both of them. ‘16 at Baltimore ‘17 at Kansas City. I take full responsibility for those losses! I also follow the 76ers closely as well!

  • How did I get started with Wegryn?

My journey with Wegryn started when I saw an application for Eagles Nation pop up on Image from iOS.jpgTwitter. I have followed the page for a long time and loved the coverage. I took some social media classes in college and thought that might help with the application. I actually went through the application once and didn’t send it. The next time I saw it a few weeks later, I decided to go ahead and send it and got approved quickly! I’ve watched our pages grow so far and I want to continue to help us grow our brand. It has been fun so far since I got brought on in October and I Image from iOS (1)can’t wait for the future with Eagles Natio

  • My aspirations?

My aspirations would be to work for the Eagles organization in some way in the future! Living in Philadelphia has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. After visiting there it made me want to even more and I was only there for the weekend. I am also a High-School Football Coach so I would love for an opportunity to continue that and to be a coach and advance through that field!

  • Where does your fandom stem from?

Born in 1955 in the shadow of what was/is the World’s Fair/SheaStadium/CitiField/Forrest Hills/Arthur Ashe complexes, my family moved when I was six months old to Elkins Park, saving me from being a Mets fan. I have been living and dying to Philly sports ever since. My parents were both sports fans, we spent Sunday’s watching the Phillies, and NFL football, noshing on Lee’s Hoagies, so I started going to sporting events of all kinds early with them. My first and always best love is Baseball, and I was going to Connie Mack by myself as a teenager. Since then I have literally seen thousands of Phillies games and still have a 17-game plan, which I have held on my own since the last five years of the Vet. I have also attended just about every other Pro and College Sport, in every venue in the area, last year even attending and writing about a Pro Ultimate Frisbee match of the Philadelphia Phoenix. One of my favorite pictures of myself is after the 2008 WS Game 4, having my traditional Victory Cigar.

  • How did I get started with Wegryn?
I first started writing about sports after being recruited off a message board called sports-boardsdotnet, to write for a new site, PattisonAve.Com. I spent a few years there as a Phillies, then Union writer, eventually being fully accredited to cover the Union the last three seasons, with my team. That gig was coming to an end, so I followed up on Wegryn’s on-line recruitment, and for some strange reason, they accepted me. Again, I started live-tweeting for some Phillies games, and this year joined the Union team, where I hope to get back in the press box again this season.

  • My aspirations?
My Sports aspiration is to one day have at least one night in the Phillies Press Box. My other love is live music, watching and performing. My wife is not a big sports fan but going to shows is one of the things the two of us have enjoyed together most for over 40 years. Along with that my other aspiration is to be “discovered” as a singer. I had performed solo and been in bands, choirs, and shows since I was a kid in grade school until for one reason or another stopped performing, as I settled into my “real” job in my family’s Men’s Clothing Wholesale business. Lately, though I have had the opportunity to sing with a couple top local Grateful Dead/Jerry Garcia cover bands, and the bug is back to keep doing it. Here is a pic of me with Michael Morrow and his great Pure Jerry Band and a video of me doing “Wharf Rat” with Rich Hill and his greatly named, “Jawn Of The Dead.”
