Bookmakers.com has revealed the top 10 most expensive sports NFTs sold on OpenSea, with their respective cryptocurrency value translated into USD as of January 2022.
Formula 1 is the most popular sport in the top ten, with five NFTs featuring, including the most expensive at over $1.3M.
The top-10 feature sports stars such as Rob Gronkowski, Kylian Mbappé, and Bruno Fernandes.
During the last few years, NFTs have skyrocketed in terms of popularity and value, with some collections (like CryptoPunks and Bored Ape Yacht Club) selling for millions of dollars. In the last year alone, Murat Pak’s ‘The Merge’ sold for $91.8M, and the notorious Beeple sold his first 500 ‘Everydays’ for $69.3M.

A new report from Bookmakers.com reveals the current highest-selling sports NFTs through the biggest NFT marketplace, OpenSea. With some of the best and most sought-after collections since the conception of NFTs being centered around sports, the report reveals the current top-10 highest-selling sports NFTs as of January 2022.

The first, the one, the only. This is how F1 marketed their first-ever NFT, with the creator of the NFT giving this description on the OpenSea auction page:
“The 1-1-1 is the very first official Formula 1® non-fungible token. This is the first car to be released for F1® Delta Time, and we made this a hyper-limited edition: there is just one single 1-1-1, and there will never be another. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind digital collectible.”

2) F1 Delta Time: Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco 2020 1A – 9,081,752 REVV
Possibly the most iconic of all the F1 Grand Prix, this NFT is an overview of the Monaco track and the city that surrounds it, including some yachts in the bay similar to the one that Kimi Räikkönen famously boarded after crashing in 2006. The creator of the NFT provided this description:
“The illustrious FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DE MONACO is laid out on the city streets of Monte Carlo and La Condamine in the principality of Monaco. The FORMULA 1 GRAND PRIX DE MONACO has been on the Formula 1 calendar since its inception in 1950 and is considered one of the most glamorous and prestigious events in the sport.”

3) Golden State Warriors Legacy Collection: 1-of-1 Warriors 6x World Champion Ring NFT & Physical Ring – 285.1 WETH

The most expensive non-Formula 1 NFT on this list; this official Golden State Warriors collectible is a limited edition 1-of-1 NFT commemorating the franchise’s six NBA championship titles to date. The winner of this auction also received a real-life replica of the ring, along with an invitation to a GSW home game to receive the ring at half-time:
“This 1-of-1 NFT also includes a custom-produced physical ring created by famed jeweler Jason of Beverly Hills. This 1-of-1 physical Golden State Warriors Six-Time World Champion Ring features over 120 Grams of 14kt Gold 475 Diamonds and Sapphires weighing appx 4.95 Carats.”
