MARCH IS HERE – 3/1 SUPER TUESDAY PICKS
Record: 8-7-1
Some are saying I’m back after my 3-0 sweep last Tuesday to bring me back to positive on the season. Tonight’s Tuesday slate is packed, juicy, and a little bit scary. I’ll navigate you through the traps, desperation games, and senior nights to find the best plays before we start the conference tournament madness.
9pm EST – #8 Purdue vs #10 Wisconsin: Wisconsin +3
Let’s start with star power. Both of these teams have it, but between Purdue’s Jaden Ivey and Wisconsin’s Jonny Davis, I have to lean Jonny Davis in this matchup. Davis comes into this game averaging 20.5 PPG, good for 13th in the country (5th in the country if you take out mid-major schools). Last time these two teams met in Indiana, Davis went off for a career high 37 points and did it in an efficient manner. The Badgers come into this game on a four game winning streak and a win tonight would lock up at least a share of the BIG 10 regular season title. The Kohl Center will no doubt be rocking tonight and that spells trouble for the Boilermakers. Purdue is a tremendous team, however they have not fared well on the road in conference play, (losses at Rutgers, Indiana, Michigan, and Michigan State). Tonight’s game in Madison may be the most raucous of all those environments and I anticipate Purdue to play rattled. Wisconsin has a team with great chemistry and experience, I anticipate the Badgers to rise to the occasion and lock up the BIG-10 regular season title. The Badgers being home dogs is too good to pass up, I’ll sprinkle ML at +135, but anticipating a close game, Wisconsin +3 is the play.
11pm EST – #2 Arizona vs #16 USC: USC +4.5
Another home underdog, music to my ears. Arizona is a damn good team, but I think they’ve been consistently overrated this entire season. Sure they’re 25-3 and have impressive wins on their resume, but during this season they have only played against two ranked opponents on the road. They’re 0-2 in those games (#19 Tennessee and #7 UCLA). USC on the other hand is getting hot at the right time, winning 6 straight games including an upset of #12 UCLA. USC runs an extremely balanced attack with four different players averaging double figures, a perfect recipe for an upset. To add onto this, it’s the final home game for USC, meaning there should be some senior night magic in the California air with an 8pm tip-off local time. Once again you’re getting an extremely good home team as an underdog!!! I will also be sprinkling USC ML at +165, but love the points at +4.5.
