New research from Bookmakers.com has revealed the average cost of a 3-pointer for every NBA team during the 2021/22 season.
The Brooklyn Nets are named the biggest spenders per 3-pointer in the league, with every 3-pointer costing the team an eye-watering $167,936 on average.
LA Lakers fans were the highest spenders per 3-pointer, with supporters having to pay around $8.02 per 3-pointer.
When you get right down to it, 3-pointers are the showstoppers in Basketball, and what else can really get the crowd going other than a long-range 3-pointer from downtown.

The San Antonio Spurs managed a great return on their salary bill, which resulted in their 3-pointers costing them $86,339 on average. The Detroit Pistons had the third-best return for their money, with their 3-pointers costing them $90,311 on average.

With regards to the fans’ perspective, based on the average price of a ticket and home game statistics during the 2021 season, the research also revealed the cost of a 3-pointer for the fans at the game (assuming all home games were attended):

Methodology
This campaign reveals the cost teams and fans had to pay per 3-pointer based on active salaries and home ticket prices during the 2021 regular season.
To discover how much each 3-pointer, point, and win cost the NFL franchises, 2021 active salaries were acquired from Spotrac.com. These salaries were then divided by each team’s total points, 3-pointers, and wins during the 2021-22 regular season to see how much each metric cost the teams.
This was then replicated for fan costs, where 2021 average ticket prices were utilized. The fan data was based on the assumption of a fan attending every home game of the regular season.
All figures were summed and ranked by the cost per 3-pointer, the highest at the top.
