The United States Men’s National Team will be in Qatar later this month for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which takes place from November 20th to December 18th.
The US had a successful qualifying campaign to get back to the World Cup after missing out on qualifying in 2018 for the first time since 1986.
The US doesn’t have high expectations heading into the 2022 World Cup, but fans will expect them to at least get to the knockout stage to erase the disappointment of missing the 2018 tournament.
Below I will look at the futures odds for some popular World Cup bets on the USA.
The odds are taken from a popular sportsbook for Americans, so you should be able to find similar odds at other betting sites for US residents.
To Win World Cup
USA is 100-1 to win the 2022 FIFA World Cup
The US Men’s National Team is not one of the top contenders to win the 2022 World Cup. Brazil is the favorite with odds of +425, while Argentina, France, England, Spain, Germany, Netherlands, Portugal, and Belgium are the main contenders, with odds ranging from 6-1 to 16-1. After these 9 nations, there’s a big jump in odds to Denmark at 30-1, and from Denmark, there’s another significant jump to 55-1, with a couple of nations being given an outside shot at winning the tournament.
At 100-1, the Americans have the 14th shortest odds of the 32 teams in the World Cup tournament.
Although the US is not expected to make win this tournament, they do have the talent to win knockout round games and make a deep run.
To Win Group B
USA has odds of +475 to win Group B
Team USA drew a Group B that includes England, Wales, and Iran. England is one of the tournament favorites, and they are a big favorite to finish atop this group with odds of -260.
That said, with only three matches to determine the group winner, anything is possible, and a couple of strong performances from the Americans could see them sitting atop the group entering the knockout stage.
To Qualify For Group B
USA has odds of -105 to qualify from Group B
Winning the group would be nice, but it is not important. The United States will instead be focused on finishing in the top two positions to avoid elimination and advance to the knockout stage. England (-1500) is considered a near lock to advance out of the group, while the USA (-105), Wales (+115), and Iran (+350) are expected to battle to be the second team qualifying.
I do think the Americans have the best chance of the three other teams to qualify for the round of 16, but they are going to have to come into the tournament in top form because their first match vs. Wales has a good chance of deciding their fate.
