Week 1 of the NFL season is in the books.
Some of the Super Bowl favorites lost their games, and other teams emerged as contenders after impressive performances.
Below, I will outline the Super Bowl LVIII odds of the six top Super Bowl contenders after week 1, according to a popular sportsbook.
Bettors from cities across the United States should be able to find similar odds at any sportsbook taking NFL bets.
San Francisco 49ers // +600
The 49ers dominated their opening week game on the road in Pittsburgh, winning 30-7 to leap past the Eagles and Chiefs to become the Super Bowl favorites, according to the oddsmakers.
The 49ers’ defense was always expected to perform well this season, but add in McCaffrey going for 152 yards and a TD on the ground and Aiyuk hauling in 8 passes for 129 yards and 2 touchdowns, and this offense could also be potent this year, making the 49ers great on both sides of the ball.
Philadelphia Eagles // +650

The Eagles had a tight game on the road in New England, but ultimately, they were able to get the job done, winning 25-20 to start the season 1-0. The Eagles had a big first quarter, and then they were able to add field goals and largely shut down the Pats in the second half to win the game.
The Eagles are still considered an elite team with a legitimate shot at the Super Bowl.
Kansas City Chiefs // +750
The Chiefs were the favorites to repeat as Super Bowl Champions leading into the season, but a 21-20 Thursday Night Football loss at home to the Lions has lengthened their odds slightly and dropped them down to the third favorite for Super Bowl LVIII according to the oddsmakers.
The Chiefs were without Travis Kelce, but his injury doesn’t seem like it will hold him out long-term, so the Chiefs offense should return to elite level with Kelce back in the lineup.
Buffalo Bills // +1000
The Bills also lost a primetime game in week 1, losing 22-16 on the road to the New York Jets. The Jets lost Aaron Rodgers on the first drive, but their defense was able to step up to shut down Josh Allen and force 3 interceptions, which ended up being the difference in the game.
It’s far too early to rule out the Bills, but this loss should be a major wake-up call for the team.
Dallas Cowboys // +1000
The Cowboys had the biggest win of the week, playing the Giants on the road and absolutely dominating the game en route to a 40-0 victory.
The Cowboys had odds of about 12-1 leading into the season, and it’s no surprise those odds have shortened to 10-1 after that impressive performance.
Cincinnati Bengals +1400
Like the Chiefs and Bills, the Bengals are an elite team that lost in week 1 and have seen their Super Bowl future odds lengthen. The Bengals lost 24-3 in Cleveland, and Joe Burrow simply could not get anything going against the Browns’ defense.
Burrow threw for just 82 yards and completed just 14 passes on 31 attempts. I expect the Bengals to turn things around, but this has to be another wake-up call for a team that was expected to contend this year.
